Childhood

I wondered how my world lied on a freaking ship,
Which sailed on beliefs and hero-worship,
And I sat alone by the windows of my imagination,
Listening to the echoes of the world wide open,
I wonder when I grew to an adult from a boy,
I wonder how I lost my fluffy small toy,
I don’t remember how the grief inside me took birth,
How I started counting pennies when they lost their worth.
I wish I could become a benevolent child,
Not so rough just pleasantly mild,
Not so rude but calm and true,
Dashing and vibrant but not so blue.
I wish Santa was real and fairies could fly by,
Or I could talk to the birds as Pooh would try,
I wish if wishes came true with a spell and a wand,
I wish to dream more, let me sleep for a while.
